Modal Works is a small, family-run performance automotive company. We design and build precision aftermarket parts for people who take their cars seriously — and we're looking for an experienced part-time CNC machinist to grow alongside us.
This isn't a faceless factory job. You'll see exactly what you're making, why it matters, and watch it end up on real builds.
What You'll Be Doing
- Running CNC mills — including 5-axis — to produce precision metal automotive components
- Loading stock, pulling finished parts, keeping things moving
- Setting up and operating both short prototype runs and production runs
- Working from engineering drawings and specs (we'll make sure they make sense)
- Keeping an eye on quality — checking dimensions with calipers, mics, and gauges
- Dialing in offsets, feeds, and speeds when something's not quite right
- Keeping the shop safe, organized, and running clean
What We're Looking For

3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience — you've been around the block
- Solid experience on 5-axis equipment — you know what simultaneous means and you're not intimidated by complex geometry
- You can read a print, understand GD&T, and know what a tight tolerance actually requires
- You've set up and run both short runs and production runs and know how to approach each differently
- You're comfortable with measuring tools and actually use them
- You give a damn about doing things right the first time
Bonus Points If You...
- Have experience with advanced fixturing — soft jaws, mitee bite clamps, custom workholding — and know how to think through a setup before you cut
- Can speak to feeds, speeds, and toolpath strategy — not just push the green button
- Have done any CAM programming (Fusion 360)

- Part-time, flexible hours (we can work around your schedule — evenings and weekends possible)
- 1099 independent contractor
